Is it right for you?
Worth a look if
- You want the choice between a weekly injection and a daily oral tablet, which Elara also sells.
- You'd value regular bloodwork and a coach without paying for them on the side.
- You like to know who compounds your medication, since Elara lists its pharmacies.
Skip it if
- You're after the lowest price for the drug alone, with no program attached.
- You need to reach support on weekends, when the care team is closed.
What's included
At $249 a month, Elara's injection plan includes the prescribed semaglutide, ongoing care from a board-certified physician, metabolic labs each quarter and certified coaching. Its FAQ promises no enrollment fee and no extra charge for labs. There's one program price, and the pricing page doesn't break it out by dose. Elara also offers compounded semaglutide as a daily oral tablet at a higher monthly price.
The company behind Elara is JTE Medical, LLC. Doctors from Openloop Healthcare Partners, PC review each case and write the prescriptions. The medication is compounded by one of four state-licensed 503A pharmacies: RedRock Pharmacy, Health Warehouse, Precision Compounding Pharmacy or Triad Rx. It ships monthly.
From sign-up to refills
- Complete the free assessment online. It covers your goals, medications and medical history, and it doesn't commit you to anything.
- An Openloop physician decides whether semaglutide suits you and whether you need labs first. No approval means no charge.
- Pick the injection or the tablet with your doctor, then confirm a billing schedule: monthly, or prepaid for 3, 6 or 13 months.
- One of the partner pharmacies compounds your prescription and sends it to your door.
- Labs repeat every three months, and your physician uses the results to adjust your dose.
What's good, what isn't
What's good
- The $249 month-to-month plan includes quarterly labs, physician visits and certified coaching.
- Semaglutide comes as a weekly injection or a daily oral tablet, and an Openloop physician helps you choose.
- Elara publishes its four pharmacy partners and their home states, from Utah to Alabama.
What isn't
- Support runs only Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern, and cancellations go through that team.
- The oral tablet costs more each month than the injection on every Elara plan.
- A month becomes nonrefundable once its medication ships, under Elara's refund policy.
Read these terms first
- Monthly or prepaid
- The $249 figure is the monthly plan. Prepaid terms of 3, 6 and 13 months lower the per-month cost, but ending one early reprices the months you used at a shorter plan's rate.
- Injection or tablet
- The two formats have different prices and aren't treated as interchangeable. Check which one your plan is for before paying.
- How to cancel
- Email or call the care team. Monthly plans have no cancellation fee, and canceling stops the next renewal.
